Dorothy certainly wasn’t in Kansas anymore when she landed on the 11th annual ASTRA Awards’ red carpet in Sydney.
Complete with Toto in a wicker basket, Dorothy stepped out onto the carpet representing TCM – a 24 hour a day commercial-free movie channel included with every Foxtel subscription. It presents the greatest Hollywood motion pictures of all time – including the likes of “The Wizard of Oz”, “Casablanca” and “Gone With the Wind” – from one of the largest film libraries in the world.
“Dorothy” was made up in sepia in a four-hour makeup session with Adelaide-based artist Emma Hack. Emma is best-known for her collaboration on Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know clip, which has had 420 million views on YouTube.
Emma travelled to Sydney to transform a model into Dorothy, complete with extra large brown contact lenses to cover her naturally green eyes. Once made up, Dorothy donned a white blouse, sepia gingham dress and brown shoes to bring to life the opening scenes of TCM’s “The Wizard of Oz”.
Joining Dorothy on the red carpet was Turner’s VP of sales and marketing for the South East Asia Pacific, Robi Stanton. In Australia, TCM is owned and operated by Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, Inc., a Time Warner company.
