Walkley Award winning political cartoonist and self-proclaimed National Treasure, First Dog on the Moon, heads to Sydney this month with the one-person show Cartoobs and other typos.
First Dog (aka Andrew Marlton) has earmarked Sydney as the fourth city in a tour that started in a heat wave at the Adelaide Fringe in February, then played the Melbourne International Comedy Festival before heading to Canberra during Budget Week.
“He’s the mysterious cartoonist that makes Crikey a must-read every day, and now he’s giving us an honest-to-god show,” was how TimeOut Melbourne greeted the production.
First Dog will perform Cartoobs and other typos in Sydney for three shows only on August 20, 21 and 22 at the Red Rattler in Marrickville.
“Australia is now firmly in election mode, but more importantly, we have dates for my Sydney show,” said a normally humble First Dog. “In the course of my 2013 national tour, there have been leadership changes and even more threats to democracy than usual. I am updating the show feverishly each time something happens. It is going to be electiontastic!“
An often hilarious and whimsical journey through the mind of one of Australia’s leading political cartoonists, Cartoobs inducts audiences into the mysteries of cartooning, battling a daily deadline and having the voices of hundreds of marsupials inside your head. Audiences may or may not even meet the ABC Interpretive Dance Bandicoot.
All Sydney shows will be on at 7.30pm and all tickets are $25. To book, go here:
