Hosts announced for 2014 ASTRA Awards

Subscription television favourites Shaynna Blaze and Matt Shirvington will co-host the 12th ASTRA Awards on Thursday March 20.
It’s the first time the TV presenters have hosted the awards, which are also at a new venue and a new time of year in 2014.
Both Shaynna Blaze and Matt Shirvington moved into television having notched up successful careers in other fields: Shaynna as an interior designer, teacher and commercial artist and Matt as an Olympian and track champion.
They both won ASTRA Awards last year. Shaynna Blaze won in the category Favourite Personality – Female (Selling Houses Australia, The LifeStyle Channel) and Matt Shirvington won for Most Outstanding Performance by a Presenter (2012 London Olympic Games, Foxtel).
Shaynna Blaze said that when she attended her first ASTRA Awards, the first celebrity she bumped into was Spongebob Squarepants.
“I didn’t think it could get much better than that,” said Shaynna. “Six years later I find myself co-hosting the 12th ASTRA Awards with the incredible Matt Shirvington and I feel like pinching myself.
“I hope that we will bring a sense of fun that reflects our own personalities and help make this an incredible night for ASTRA,” Shaynna Blaze said.
Matt Shirvington said it was a complete honour to host the awards.
“It’s subscription television’s night of nights. Everything the event stands for means a great deal to a lot of talented people because it recognises the quality, creativity and diversity of the industry,” he said.
The 2014 ASTRA Awards will be presented on Thursday March 20 at Sydney’s Carriageworks in Eveleigh.
