Days of Our Lives returns to Australia

Australia’s most popular daytime drama series DAYS OF OUR LIVES is returning to Australian television in April 2014 with an all-new home on Foxtel’s ARENA and with episodes being telecast Express from the U.S.
In an historic first, Foxtel customers will be able to watch DAYS OF OUR LIVES (DOOL) just hours after the episodes have aired in the U.S. beginning Tuesday, April 15 at 12.50pm.
To celebrate its return, Foxtel’s ARENA will screen 10 specially selected “catch up” episodes of DOOL to bring fans and viewers totally up to date. These special episodes, presented by the DOOL cast members, will cover the crucial storylines that may have been missed over the series’ Australian TV hiatus, and will air weekdays from Tuesday, April 1 to Monday, April 14 at 12.50pm.
Then on Tuesday April 15, DOOL, Express from the US, commences.  For the first time in the show’s history, Australian viewers will finally have the opportunity to enjoy the program day & date with the U.S.
DOOL is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television.  Ken Corday is executive producer with co-executive producers Greg Meng and Lisa De Cazotte. Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell are the head writers. The series, which will celebrate its 50th Anniversary on-air in 2015, was recently renewed for another three years by U.S. television network NBC.
“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”   These words hold a special place in the hearts of millions of soap fans around the world.  And finally they will be heard again daily on ARENA.
The show first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Today, it remains a favourite among viewers of daytime television serials.
DOOL has garnered 215 Daytime Emmy nominations and 32 wins, as well as multiple Soap Opera Digest and People’s Choice Awards. The show’s success derives from its consistent commitment to excellence in writing and storytelling, supported by a diverse ensemble of performers, and an uncanny knack for anticipating viewer interests. With its mix of classic genre traditions and groundbreaking narratives reflecting modern life, DOOL remains a perennial favourite among viewers of all ages.
DOOL is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Bradys, the Hortons, and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.
ARENA will screen DOOL each weekday, less than 24 hours post each daily episode premiere in the U.S., at 12.50pm, and will provide a weekly omnibus catchup on Sunday mornings from 7-11.30am. Episodes of DOOL will also be available to watch On Demand via IP connected STBs or Foxtel Go.
The DOOL special “catch up” episodes will air at 12.50pm, from Tuesday April 1, in the lead up to the DOOL Express from US premiere, Tuesday April 15, 12.50pm on ARENA.
