More than 3,000 families entered the draw to experience its first stop on Asia Pacific tour
Rove the first ‘human claw’ followed by North Melbourne Captain Andrew Swallow
Over the school holidays, Cartoon Network Toon Machine, an interactive indoor mega structure, had hundreds of kids and their parents clawing and craning for a raft of ultimate prizes, with more than 3,000 families entering the draw to experience Toon Machine.
Rove McManus was the first person to be a ‘human claw’ at its unveiling on Tuesday 30 September, followed by North Melbourne Football Club captain Andrew Swallow.
Located at Chadstone Shopping Centre, the impressive Cartoon Network Toon Machine standing at more than six metres high and six metres wide captivated thousands from Tuesday 30 September until its conclusion on Sunday 5 October, with some families travelling from interstate to take part in this clawsome event.
Supported by Moose Toys’ Mutant Mania and Shopkins along with Chadstone Shopping Centre, Toon Machine provided a hands-on opportunity for empowered kids to engage, connect and interact with the Cartoon Network brand and the unique chance for kids to turn the tables and be in control of their parents. The event also served as a platform to launch Cartoon Network’s brand new original comedy series Clarence before its official on-channel premiere.
“MCN were incredibly excited to be part of Cartoon Network’s first activation of Toon Machine, providing us with an opportunity to immerse our family viewers in the brands, taking them beyond the screen and allowing parents and kids to share an experience. It was fantastic to see kids and parents sharing this experience with brands,” said Elizabeth Minogue, Head of Strategic Integration at Multi Channel Network.
Cartoon Network Toon Machine is a modern twist on the classic “claw crane” arcade game familiar to all generations that saw parents be safely harnessed and suspended in the air above a mountain of presents. Their child controlled the claw by using a joystick in the hopes of grabbing one of the many prizes on offer.
The prizes clawed at the unveiling were donated to children at My Room – Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne with leftover prizes in the Toon Machine donated to their birthday cupboard.
Cartoon Network Toon Machine will make Asia its next port of call, with details to be announced at a later date.
