NEW SEASONS ORDERED FOR FIVE ORIGINAL CARTOON NETWORK STUDIOS COMEDIES
Coming off the heels of ratings and critical success around the world, Cartoon Network has greenlit Season 7 of the Emmy®-winning Adventure Time, Season 7 of the Emmy®-winning Regular Show, Season 2 of the Emmy®-winning Uncle Grandpa, Season 2 of Steven Universe and 13 more half hours of Clarence, announcing the news at Comic-Con® International: San Diego 2014.
Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe and Clarence originate from the prolific artist- driven Cartoon Network Shorts Program at Cartoon Network Studios, while Adventure Time is produced by Cartoon Network Studios in association with Frederator Studios. The success and global recognition of these brands demonstrate Cartoon Network’s ability to reflect the spirit and energy of a kid’s world.
“We have created global momentum with this group of home-grown series,” said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network. “Our commitment to keeping all of these comedies going strong is a reflection of our continued belief in the impressive creative talent powering them.”
What time is it? Nominated for a 2014 Primetime Emmy® Cartoon Network is happy to announce that pop cultural phenomenon Adventure Time will be back for a seventh season. Created by Pendleton Ward and produced by Cartoon Network Studios, Adventure Time’s unlikely heroes Finn and Jake are buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colourful inhabitants. Season 6 of Adventure Time will premiere Monday 1 September at 5pm and continuing weekdays, as part of Laughternoons, weekdays 4pm-7pm.
Regular Show, also nominated for a 2014 Primetime Emmy® has been renewed for Season 7. Created by JG Quintel and produced by Cartoon Network Studios, Regular Show features best friends and groundskeepers, Mordecai, a six-foot-tall blue jay and Rigby, a hyperactive raccoon who spend their days trying to entertain themselves by any means necessary, with their everyday pursuits often leading to things spiraling out of control and into the surreal. Season 5 of Regular Show will air weekdays 5.30pm from Monday 1 September.
It has been a “Good Morning” for Uncle Grandpa with Season 2 of the Emmy®-winning show announced. All new episodes are scheduled to air late 2014 with a slew of famous stars lending their voices to guest characters. Created by Pete Browngardt, Uncle Grandpa made its debut in May and quickly became a ratings success.
Believe in Steven! Greenlit for Season 2 and created by Emmy® and Annie Award-nominated writer and storyboard artist Rebecca Sugar (Adventure Time), Steven Universe tells the story of three magical guardians called the Crystal Gems and their “little brother” Steven who protect the planet. Despite not having much control over his own powers, Steven always joins Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl on their magical adventures and somehow finds a way to save the day! Steven Universe is Cartoon Network’s first series with a solo female creator in 21 years. Currently a ratings leader among boys, and a growing favourite with girls, the pilot launched online in May 2013 before its television debut. New episodes of Steven Universe will return late 2014 with the premiere episode “Coach Steven” featuring special guest star Nicki Minaj as Sugilite.
