BACKGROUND:
The Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) engaged eckfactor to maximise media opportunities and coverage for the one-day ASTRA Conference Claiming the Future, in Sydney during March 2008. Speakers included Senator the Hon Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.
eckfactor has been engaged to work on the conference for the past four years.
ECKFACTOR RESULTS:
More than 40 media registered for the conference, including journalists from Sky News, AAP, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald and trade publications Variety, Encore, MediaWeek and Media Day.
The estimated reach of publicity for the conference was a cumulative circulation across all media of more than six million.
Key hits included:
- Coverage of Federal Communications Minister Stephen Conroy tackling anti-siphoning at ASTRA, including an online story in Encore’s weekly bulletin and major piece in the Sydney Morning Herald’s business section
- Two AAP reporters filing from the on-location media centre on subjects including anti-siphoning, free to air television needing to change or die, broadband costs and the ABC’s digital ambitions
- Sky Business News interviewing keynote speaker Philip Evans of the Boston Consulting Group
