CHALLENGE:
The third season of the Emmy-nominated and ASTRA Award winning series Deadliest Catch premiered in Australia and to promote the global hit-series about Alaska crab fishermen, captain Sig Hansen travelled to Australia the week before the premiere for publicity opportunities. eckfactor was asked to create a media tour with impact and ensure Discovery's VIP talent was looked after.
STRATEGY:
With the growing popularity of the show and Sig Hansen's unique occupation, eckfactor identified that this was a perfect story to pitch not only to traditional entertainment publications, but to target national free-to-air television and radio programs to achieve maximum results.
ECKFACTOR RESULTS:
Captain Sig did television interviews including Sunrise and Mornings with Kerri-Anne, with both showing Deadliest Catch footage. During his stay, Captain Sig conducted radio interviews with top morning and drivetime programs from around the country including Triple M, Nova, WSFM, 2UE, 2GB, 2Day FM and ABC Radio National. Sig also talked with several magazines and newspapers. eckfactor arranged a VIP dinner with Sig at one of Sydney's only restaurants serving Alaskan King Crab. Having captain Sig "Down Under" created tremendous excitement and awareness for the new series.
